Forensic Anthropology Center Facilities Manager and Assistant Director

Mary Davis manages the FAC’s laboratories, taphonomic research facility, and the body donation program. She earned a BS degree in neuroscience from Baylor University, a BS in anthropology from the College of Charleston, and an MSc in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Central Lancashire (England). Prior to joining the FAC, Mary was a Death Investigation Specialist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. She has worked in the southeastern United States, the Caribbean, and Europe on forensic casework, bioarchaeological excavations, and the recovery of fallen servicemen from WWII. Mary teaches undergraduate classes in skeletal collection curation and the science of decomposition. Her research interests include human decomposition, postmortem interval estimation, techniques for locating clandestine burials, photogrammetry, and bioarchaeology.
